SixinSixty©
Determination, fortitude, courage, and consistency, borne out of passion
is the recipe to achieve unthinkable feats no matter the age or barrier.
Ken Hill is a runner and cross country skier who has become an inspiration to many of his fellow runners, friends and co-workers by racing and completing six marathons in the year he has turned 60 which he has called “SixinSixty” -four running marathons and two XCski marathons (53 km).
The operative word is race. For he has achieved a personal best in four of the six marathons he has completed. In the Boston Marathon he achieved personal best of 3:39:59 which is known as one of the more difficult courses with an improvement of 25 minutes over the 2007 Calgary Marathon. Four months later Ken Hill established another personnel best with a time of 3:29:16 with an improvement of 10 minutes at the Treherne Marathon.
In the past year, Ken has been featured in the Calgary Herald, Edmonton Journal, Treherne Newspaper, as CTV athlete of the week, in Canadian Running Magazine and nominated in the IRun magazine as an inspirational athlete.
His relentless dedication to training continues as he plans to improve his time so he can begin to win marathons in his age category.
This is a person who started running when he was 55. Over the last year, he continues to grow stronger with his training despite his age while holding a full time job. Health and Fitness he discovered improves his energy, and overall well being. Proving that age is not a barrier in improving fitness levels and participating in extreme active life style. Over the last five years he has lost 30 pounds.
Ken Hill is proud grandfather with two grand kids and a Great Grandson.
Ken enjoys other outdoor activities, which includes road biking, mountain biking, hiking and scrambling different mountain peaks in the Canadian Rockies.
Ken has started speaking engagements as a motivational, and inspirational speaker where he provides practical ideas on goal setting, health and fitness, and training tools for marathons to reach one’s full potential.
Ken Hill challenges all of us regardless of our age or barrier by achieving our own personal best or your SixinSixty.
